EMDR Europe Standard Accredited Training
EMDR Europe, the governing body for EMDR therapy across Europe, sets rigorous standards for accredited EMDR training. These require a total of 52 hours of teaching, supervised practice, and clinical case consultation.
Mirabilis Health’s EMDR training programme meets and exceeds these requirements through a structured, phased approach:
Part 1 – Three days of online live training (21 hours)
Part 2 – Half-day small group case consultation (3 hours)
Part 3 – Three days of online live training (21 hours)
Part 4 – Final case consultation (7 hours)
Our programme is delivered online from Northern Ireland and facilitated by Professor Paul Miller MD, a Europe-accredited EMDR Consultant and Trainer with decades of trauma expertise alongside his expert team of psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.

By completing our comprehensive EMDR Foundation Training, you will:
Master the EMDR Protocol
Gain proficiency in the eight-phase EMDR therapy protocol, including history taking, preparation, assessment, desensitisation, installation, body scan, closure, and re-evaluation.
Apply EMDR Across Diverse Clinical Presentations
Learn to effectively utilise EMDR therapy for various conditions such as PTSD, complex trauma, phobias, grief, chronic pain, addictions, and anxiety disorders.
Enhance Clinical Competence
Develop the ability to assess client readiness, ensure safety and stabilisation, and apply appropriate bilateral stimulation techniques (e.g., eye movements, taps, tones).
Integrate EMDR with Other Therapeutic Approaches
Understand how to combine EMDR therapy with other models like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy to enrich your clinical practice.
Engage in Practical Experience
Participate in supervised practice sessions, working in triads to apply EMDR techniques and receive constructive feedback, fostering confidence and skill development.
Prepare for Accreditation
Fulfil the foundational training requirements necessary for pursuing EMDR Europe Practitioner accreditation, including supervised consultation and clinical practice.

Part 1 (Days 1–3)

History and theoretical basis of EMDR
Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model
Eight-phase standard EMDR protocol:
History taking and case formulation
Preparation and resourcing
Assessment of target memory
Desensitisation (with bilateral stimulation)
Installation of positive cognition
Body scan
Closure
Re-evaluation
Safety, stabilisation, and client readiness
Bilateral stimulation methods: eye movements, taps, tones
Practice in triads with feedback
Part 2 : Supervision 1
Group consultation
Discussion of initial client work
Trouble-shooting early difficulties
Clinical fidelity check before advancing to Part 2
Part 3 (Days 4–6)
Advanced topics:
Working with complex trauma and dissociation
Target sequencing: recent vs. early memories
EMDR with phobias, grief, pain, addictions
Cultural and developmental considerations
Modifications for clients with complex presentations
Integration with other models (e.g., CBT, psychodynamic)
Additional protocols and procedures (e.g., Recent Event Protocol)
Continued practice in triads, including more complex case material.
Part 4 : Supervision 2 (final group consult)
Review of clinical cases using EMDR
Reflection on skill development and confidence
Discussion of integration into ongoing practice
Eligibility for accreditation or certification if desired

Upon completion of all parts, including the supervision requirements, participants receive a certificate of completion recognised by EMDR Europe.
Many mental health professionals who complete EMDR therapy training with us choose to pursue accreditation as EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioners. This process involves working under supervision with an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant after completing the standard training, and demonstrating competence across all eight phases of the EMDR protocol.

Once you commence training you may then:
Join EMDR UK &/or EMDR All Ireland (or local EMDR Association)
Progress to accredited practitioner status after further supervision and case documentation (optional but recommended)
