EMDR for Psychosis and Complex Trauma
“I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in delivering this course. I’ve taken so much from it, both personally and professionally, and feel genuinely inspired by the depth, quality, and compassion embedded in the training.
This area of work has really captured my heart, and I’m excited to grow further in it. The book EMDR for Schizophrenia and Psychosis was a particular highlight for me, insightful, moving, and deeply relevant to the clients I work with.
The staff were exceptional throughout: knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly passionate about what they do. The content was incredibly rich and thoughtfully delivered. It has honestly been one of the best courses I’ve ever done.
Thank you again for such an impactful learning experience.”
“I found Prof Miller to have the rarest of talents; the ability to make what could be a complex and abstract modality, translational to real-world practice delivered with humour, knowledge and practical examples. An expert communicator and mentor.”
“Incredible depth of knowledge.
Paul explained complex theories with clarity, using metaphors that made concepts easy to remember and apply.”
“Inspiring and impactful. This was one of the most valuable training sessions I’ve attended—expertise combined with real heart.”
“Real-life case studies and relatable metaphors made the theory instantly usable in therapeutic settings.”
“The humour, warmth, and real-life examples made the learning both effective and enjoyable.”
“A truly engaging and personable trainer. The humour, warmth, and practical examples made learning not just effective but enjoyable.””
“I think Paul is very knowledgeable, sticks to the plan of the day, answers questions and is funny which makes the whole experience lighter.”
“Very clear delivery, very articulate and knowledgeable. Humour and imagery used effectively to aid the learning process. Hugely impressed that Paul could fluidly deliver a vast amount of knowledge and information and sustain interest and attention, over such a long period and never seem to flag. Wow! Must be the Celtic spirit...”
“I approach mental illness through the lens of trauma—not as a set of symptoms to suppress, but as a meaningful, often heroic response to overwhelming threat. For me, the task is not to ask “what’s wrong with you?” but “what happened to you?” I’ve learned that beneath the chaos of suffering lies an intact drive toward survival, adaptation, and— even if obscured — transformation.
A trauma-informed approach means working with the whole person: their neurobiology, their story, their relationships, and the systems they inhabit. I place a high value on safety, trust, language, and the power of relationship to rekindle agency and coherence. My work draws on EMDR therapy, the Adaptive Information Processing model, and Open Dialogue practices—integrating neuroscience, psychotherapy, and compassionate presence.
Whether I’m working with first responders, trauma survivors, or those navigating the fog of psychosis, I strive to honour their dignity, make space for complexity, and support a process that leads not just to recovery, but to integration and post-traumatic growth.”
