ADHD & NICE Guidelines: What You Need to Know
How we ensure our assessments meet the highest standards
When you’re considering an ADHD assessment—you want to know it’s being done properly. At Mirabilis Health, we follow the official guidance set out by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), which outlines the gold-standard approach for diagnosis and care in the UK.
Here’s what that means in practice—and how we deliver it with clinical excellence and compassion.
What are NICE guidelines?
NICE provides evidence-based recommendations for healthcare professionals in the UK. The ADHD guideline we follow is NICE NG87, which ensures that assessments are safe, accurate, and widely recognised by GPs, employers, and the NHS. The following shows how Mirabilis adheres to the guidelines in practice:
1.Specialist-led assessments
What it means: Only trained clinicians should diagnose ADHD
All our assessments are led by consultant psychiatrists or clinical psychologists with ADHD expertise.
2.Use of validated tools
What it means: Use structured, evidence-based questionnaires and interviews
We use gold-standard tools like the ACE or DIVA interviews, Conners scales, and ASRS questionnaires.
3.Full developmental history
What it means: Understand symptoms from early life to now.
We take time to explore your history, including early development, family context, and co-occurring challenges.
4.Rule out other explanations
What it means: ADHD can overlap with anxiety, autism, trauma, or learning difficulties — so assess these too.
We carefully consider and screen for other conditions and can provide combined ADHD/Autism assessments.
5.Provide a written report
What it means: Give clear diagnostic feedback in writing.
Every client receives a comprehensive diagnostic report and support recommendations.
6.Plan for what comes next
What it means: Post-diagnosis, help should continue.
We offer follow-up options and can refer you to therapy, psychiatry, or coaching support services.
Why this matters
Your diagnosis will be recognised by NHS services, employers, and universities
You’ll be fully informed—no rushed or vague assessments
You’ll be treated as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms
You’ll receive next-step guidance and compassionate care
