Dr Derek McLaughlin

RMN, Dip.N, BSc (Hons) CMHN Qual, PGCert.N.Ed, D.Phil, FHEA, EMDR Therapist
Derek has been a mental health nurse for over 30 years.  He has worked in a wide variety of areas eventually specializing in alcohol and drug care.  More recently he has developed skills and knowledge around the care and treatment of those suffering trauma.  Derek believes that a person’s mental health is closely linked to other aspects such as our physical wellbeing, social relationships and spiritual health.  Derek works in partnership with the person in distress being guided by their needs and abilities.  He views healing as being possible for any person and that the whole person must be cared for.

Patricia Jamshidi

Patricia trained as a therapist after working as a nurse and midwife. After gaining an honours degree in psychology she gained a distinction in an MSc in integrative counselling from the University of Ulster. She is experienced in the treatment of the psychological effects of trauma, PTSD, dissociation, anxiety conditions, abuse, anger, bereavement, depression, relationship problems, depression, phobias, personal development and suicidal thinking. She is BACP accredited and is also accredited as a Consultant EMDR Therapist. In 2009 she completed training at the Anna Freud Centre in London in InterPersonal Therapy (IPT).

Logotherapist & Existential Analyst
Scott is the first Logotherapist offering meaning-based therapy in the whole of Northern Ireland and is accredited by the International Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis at the Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna. He has been with Mirabilis for a number of years, initially providing mindfulness training, spiritual direction and specialist training programmes for Clergy.
There are essentially two broad categories of people for whom Logotherapy is suitable. Firstly, those who have identifiable symptoms/conditions such as trauma related disorders, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, stuttering, stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, panic attacks and insomnia. Secondly, those who are questioning or exploring the meaning of life or the circumstances they find themselves in. 
Logotherapy can help to re-orientate individuals experiencing meaninglessness, boredom, emptiness, despair and can help those feeling frustrated in their quest to reach their full life-potential. 
Scott offers one-to-one Logotherapy sessions for clients aged 18 and above. Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. Referrals are accepted from GP’s, mental health professionals, as well as ‘self-referrals’.
